It’s Release Day!
A Family Matter is available for purchase today. And what’s more, it’s already popped up onto one of the more obscure Amazon bestseller lists.
That’s right, folks. As I’m writing this, A Family Matter is #67 on Amazon’s LGBT Science Fiction list. I feel a little guilty about that, because the book isn’t actually very gay. It has an incidentally bisexual an incidentally gay character in leading roles, but I worry that people are going to buy it off that list expecting hot male-male action and, well, that’s just not me. But that’s all theoretical at this point, so for now I’m taking it as a win that I’m popping up on any bestseller list at all. By the way, here’s the screen grab:

Amazon, by the way, did a great job with the “Look Inside” preview. You can read the entire first chapter and a bit of the second, ending in a moment of good tension. Based on other books I’ve seen where it’s, shall we say, not so hot I tend to think this was the luck of the automation, but you can easily sample a bit of the book and see for yourself if you want to keep reading or not.
If you’d like the Kindle edition, my Amazon affiliate link is https://amzn.to/2MhbDSH — paperbacks are available through any bookstore that can take books distributed by Ingram. (It’s print-on-demand, so it’s highly unlikely they’ll be in stores.) If you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, you can read it as part of your already-paid subscription.
And, I’m just going to end with the usual plea: If you love the book, please give it 5 stars and write a review. Indie and small-press authors really, really depend on those reviews and ratings to help other people who would love the book find the book.
Meanwhile, I’m going to go stare at this bestseller list for a while longer. This is not where I expected to be on release day.
